More than 3500 Irvine residents work for the Irvine Company. 

Broadcom

Broadcom is a major player in the tech world. They are a producer of semiconductor and infrastructure software products with a global reach. The company is based in the Silicon Valley in San Jose, but they employ more than 15,000 Irvine residents at their local campus. Broadcom sits at number 150 on the Fortune 500 list of the largest US corporations.
